In compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act (IITAA), Information and Communications Technology (ICT) products and services that the University buys, creates, uses, and maintains must either conform to the technical and functional requirements of federal and state law, as outlined in the Minimum Digital Accessibility Standards (MDAS), or have an approved exception.

The Technology Accessibility Review Committee (TARC) is a standing committee appointed by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The TARC is charged with reviewing and approving accessibility exception requests and assisting the ADA IT Coordinator in accessibility awareness efforts.
This document supports the DigitalAccessibility Policy as a supplemental guide for establishing the Implementation Plan called for by the Policy.
The Digital Accessibility Policy promotes high-level coordination of accessibility efforts on the Urbana-Champain campus of the University of Illinois. It defines a standard of accessibility compliance and, through a flexible implementation plan, establishes procedures to help ensure that information technology used for the mission of the University is accessible to all persons, regardless of ability or delivery format.
